Andrew F. Beck, MD, MPH

University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

Dr. Beck is an Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an attending physician in the Divisions of General and Community Pediatrics and Hospital Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Beck’s research aims to improve child health outcomes by identifying and mitigating key social determinants of health. Specifically, he pursues quantitative and quality improvement studies that focus on population-level health disparities and academic-community collaborations. He formed partnerships with the Cincinnati Health Department to link asthma patients with environmental risks to code enforcement visits and with a large local food bank to provide hungry infants with formula.

Dr. Beck also serves on the management team of the Cincinnati Children’s Medical-Legal Partnership. He has taken a lead role in the hospital’s new Community Health Initiative, which through such hospital-community partnerships aims to reduce all-cause inpatient bed-days rates in high-risk neighborhoods. His projects are funded through agencies including the NIH, PCORI, and Academy Health. He works, clinically, as a primary care and hospitalist pediatrician.
