Dissemination

Unpack what kinds of dissemination are valued by your institution vs. what would be most impactful for the community.

Before developing any dissemination products for the community, ask community partners and advisors how they want the research presented to them AND how they want to be able to share the research to their own stakeholders. For example, disseminate materials in language as appropriate to be responsive to community needs, or disseminate via community events, popular media, or other channels as directed by community.

With your community partners, think beyond the research to the policy or program changes that your research contributes to, and develop dissemination products to support advocacy or other change initiatives for health equity.

Ideally, co-create dissemination products with community or lived experience experts; at minimum, share draft dissemination products with communities prior to publication/presentation.

Use the REACH (Representation, Experience, Accessibility, Compensation, and Harm Reduction) Equity Screen (Le 2019) when you develop dissemination products beyond your academic paper.

Ask your community how you can support them in mobilizing for social change.
