Emma Tucher, PhD is a post-doctoral fellow at the Social Interventions Research and Evaluation Network (SIREN) in the School of Medicine (Department of Family & Community Medicine). Prior to joining SIREN, Emma completed a delivery science fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research, with mentors from KP and SIREN. She completed her doctoral studies at Brown University with a focus on health services research and health economics. While at SIREN, she will work with Drs. Gottlieb, Hessler Jones, and Fichtenberg and the entire SIREN team on research studies focused on the intersection of social and medical care. One example, she will work with the SIREN team to evaluate Covered California's grocery support program. During her fellowship, she will continue her focus on food insecurity and local, state, and federal efforts to address the social determinants of health within the medical system. Emma was born and raised in Northern California and considers San Francisco home. She loves running through golden gate park, walking by the beach with her dog, and enjoying all of California's beautiful nature in hiking and backpacking adventures. Going forward, she hopes her research will contribute to improving the health care experience for patients experiencing social risks as an independent researcher in her home state of California.
