CIN webinar series — The ROI for addressing social needs in health care (#2)

The California Improvement Network has identified addressing social needs that impact health as a top priority area for 2018–19. This webinar series spotlights in-progress efforts of leading health organizations to accurately measure return on investment (ROI) for social needs that impact health.

This second webinar in the series featured a conversation with Kaiser Permanente researchers about their pilot (and national program) to measure ROI for the high-needs community. The conversation highlighted:

• Utilization data from high-need patients
• Operational lessons related to patient engagement
• Initiatives to connect members to community resources and track outcomes

There is not a single approach for defining and measuring ROI for social needs initiatives, and many organizations aren’t sure where to even start. No matter what stage they are at in the process, this webinar holds valuable information for health care organizations in the process of considering different approaches to addressing social influences.
